Position Title: Director of English Language Learning and Dual Language
Location: Sioux City Community School District, Sioux City, Iowa
Reports To: Assistant Superintendent of Academic Services

Position Overview:

The Director of English Language Learning (ELL) and Dual Language programs will provide visionary leadership and administrative oversight to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive ELL and Dual Language programs. The Director will ensure these programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations and meet the educational needs of English language learners in the Sioux City Community School District.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development and Implementation:
    • Design, implement, and manage ELL and Dual Language programs that align with district goals and state standards.
    • Develop and oversee curriculum and instructional strategies tailored to the needs of English learners.
    • Coordinate with school administrators to integrate ELL and Dual Language programs into the broader educational framework.
  2. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws and regulations related to ELL and Dual Language education.
    • Prepare and submit reports required by local, state, and federal agencies.
    • Maintain accurate records of student progress, program effectiveness, and compliance documentation.
  3. Professional Development:
    • Plan and deliver professional development for teachers, administrators, and support staff focused on best practices in ELL and Dual Language instruction.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the ELL and Dual Language teaching community.
  4. Student Support and Advocacy:
    • Advocate for the needs of English language learners within the school district and the broader community.
    • Collaborate with parents, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support student success.
    • Develop and implement initiatives to enhance parental involvement in ELL and Dual Language programs.
  5. Data Analysis and Program Evaluation:
    • Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of ELL and Dual Language programs.
    • Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
    • Prepare and present reports on program outcomes to the Board of Education and other stakeholders.
  6. Budget and Resource Management:
    • Develop and manage budgets for ELL and Dual Language programs.
    • Identify and pursue grant opportunities to support program initiatives.
    • Allocate resources effectively to ensure the highest impact on student learning.
