Job Title: Driver/ Food Service

Reports To: Warehouse Manager           

 

 

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

 

Position is responsible for loading, unloading and driving a delivery truck.  Ensure all items are included for delivery.  Organize merchandise on delivery truck.  Return pans, trays and any other items to central kitchen.  Delivers paperwork to schools and central kitchen.  Maintain clean truck interior and delivery area.   Communicates with all school and central kitchen personnel. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Load all high school and elementary school orders in truck.  Stack merchandise to ensure products will not get damaged during transportation.

 

Stack and organize merchandise according to schools so that each school will get all their orders. Check to make sure that all cooked and non-cooked items the school needs for that day are loaded.

 

Keep heater doors closed at all times.

 

Unload all orders at location according to needs of that location.

 

Assist employees at each location to ensure accuracy.  If needed, may help serve lunch at the last stop.

 

Bring back all pans, trays, etc. to central kitchen. Pick up deposit/paperwork from schools. When back to kitchen take deposit/paperwork to the office before unloading the truck.

 

Maintain clean truck.  Keep the windows and inside of the truck clean, as well as notify supervisor of any issues with the truck or equipment.

 

Adhere to and follow the work schedule.  Changes to the schedule must be approved by the Food Service Supervisor.

 

Properly handle equipment and merchandise.

 

Maintain personal hygiene, including wearing appropriate hair cover, approved slip resistant shoes and complete uniform. Follow and adhere to jewelry and fingernail policies.

 

Follow regulations according to the HAACP manual.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

A High school diploma or GED is required.  2-3 years of route sales/delivery driver experience preferred but not required.  A clean driving record is required.   

 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from all levels of the organization, including departmental staff, principals, and central administration, as well as students, parents, and community members.    Individual must have effective listening skills.  Maintain polite attitude and assist others when needed.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL SKILLS

Being punctual is a necessity.  Complete duties in a timely manner. Must have the ability to multi-task.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  The ability to lift up to 75 pound frequently and climb stairs while carrying food and supplies is required.  Employee may work in all weather conditions.  Must be able to continuously stand or walk.   

 

 

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

Will perform other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee, necessary and appropriate to achievement of the program and/or District goals and objectives.
