Description: Substitute Teacher
Summary: Teaches students in the absence of the regular classroom instructor throughout the district on a day-to-day basis as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Current Iowa Teaching Certificate or Substitute License/Authorization
- Child and Dependent Adult Mandatory Reporter Certificate
Duties and Responsibilities: Other duties may be assigned.
- Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
- Teaches district-approved curriculum.
- Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of the school district in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Facilitates the lesson plans as prepared by the instructor in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Translates lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences.
- Provides assistance for students who need special help on those days when the teacher is absent.
- Evaluates student progress and participation and keeps appropriate records of the same in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
- Maintains a positive and productive classroom environment, effectively using accepted classroom management strategies.
